Credit Reports
by NF
Identity theft is one of the most rising crimes. Criminals can use basic information gathered from databases, mail, or data mining, and can open credit accounts in your name. It is far too easy, and that is why you must look for ways to protect yourself. There are several simple steps you can take to protect yourself:
- Buy a shredder. Shred all junk mail and anything with personally identifiable information. This will keep crooks from going through your trash and stealing your information.
- Get a copy of your credit report from all three reporting agencies. Do this at least twice a year to make sure there are no accounts open that you are not aware of.
- Invest in some identity theft insurance. Check with your credit card company to see if they offer coverage.
